Homestay

Homestay provides a unique opportunity to live with a local family, offering an easy and enriching way to experience and adapt to Colombian culture. Families are carefully selected to ensure a welcoming, comfortable, clean, and safe environment with convenient access to public transportation.

Students can choose accommodation in Bogotá or Chía. The homestay service includes:

Steps to your Admission in La Sabana

    We have prepared a very simple form in case you are ready to take a course with us. Remember that this is just the begining of a new experience. We are waiting for you!

    Full payment of the selected weeks. How to pay?

    • Wire transfer from abroad (USD): Payment for the course may be made from abroad in American Dollars through any bank, via wire transfer to the university’s international account. A form will be sent for you to fill out and present at your bank for the transaction.
    • Bank deposit in Colombia: Payment for the course may be made in Colombian pesos via a bank deposit in the university’s bank account in Bancolombia. For this option, please request the data of the bank account in advance. The amount in Colombian pesos will be determined by the exchange rate of the day.
    • Credit card: The course can be paid with a credit card through the university’s web page or directly on campus or through a link we will provide the participant with.

    Reimbursement policy: Payment for Spanish courses is non-refundable. There may be exceptions.
    Important: Please take into account that payment in cash at the University must be in Colombian pesos. Payments from abroad must be in American dollars.

    Once we confirm the payment we will send you the instructions to take the test online. 

    The Placement Test is a diagnostic evaluation designed to assess the language proficiency of students who wish to enroll in a Spanish course at the Universidad de La Sabana. The test is designed to assess the student's current level of Spanish proficiency and place them in the appropriate course level.

    Have Student Visa or Permit stamp Entry and Stay (PIP 2)

    Universidad de La Sabana requires international health and accident insurance that is valid for the entire duration of the course to cover any unexpected incidents. A copy of the insurance certificate must be scanned and sent to spanishprogram@unisabana.edu.co. 

    Before starting classes, please email all the required documents to spanishprogram@unisabana.edu.co: 

    • Passport (personal data page)
    • Visa or PID permit stamp
    • Health insurance certificate with coverage in Colombia

    Student Visa

    Students enrolling in a course at our university that lasts more than 24 weeks (6 months) must apply for a student visa. This can be done at a Colombian Embassy or Consulate abroad or at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs office in Colombia. 

    We strongly recommend obtaining the visa before arriving in the country. To apply, students must present the letter of acceptance and other required documents and certificates, which the university will provide.

    PID PERMIT
    Permit and Stay Stamp 
    Students enrolling in a Spanish course at our university for up to 12 weeks will not need to process a student visa. To take the course, students must request the PID stamp upon entering Colombia. Please note that it is not possible to start the course with a tourist stamp. 

    To apply for the PID permit, you must present your acceptance letter to the course, issued by Universidad de La Sabana, to immigration officials upon entry to the country. If needed, the PID permit can be renewed for an additional 12 weeks. The renewal must be completed at least two weeks before the initial 90-day period expires. 

    NOTE: If the student is in our country with a tourist stamp (TU) and decides to take a Spanish course at our university, should contact the Office of Migration Colombia to request change to Entry and Stay (PID).
