Civil Engineering

The Undergraduate Program in Civil Engineering at Universidad de La Sabana trains professionals who contribute to the design, management, and execution of building projects, road projects, aqueduct and sewerage projects, transportation system projects, urban renewal projects, among others. Our civil engineer may work professionally in any of the disciplinary areas, understanding its context at a national or international level.

The civil engineer from the Universidad de La Sabana is capable of excelling in the following professional areas:

It comprises 175 Academic Credits to be developed in nine calendar semesters, including professional Internship; It has few prerequisites, which makes it easier for the student to organize their curriculum with flexibility. 

Approximately 60% of the credits of the study plan correspond to common subjects with other programs of the Faculty of Engineering, which gives the student the possibility of study a double program.

The applicant to the Civil Engineering program at the Universidad de La Sabana must be a high school graduate with: 

  • Mathematical aptitude (SABER 11). 
  • Interest in mathematics, natural sciences, and social sciences. 
  • Interest in the field of civil engineering. 
  • Willingness to commit to developing their intellectual abilities and to be fully trained as a person and as an engineer. 

In line with the mission of the Faculty of Engineering, the civil engineer from the Universidad de La Sabana is a professional with an interdisciplinary and international vision, capable of designing, developing, constructing, managing, and directing systems, processes, or components related to construction and engineering services such as buildings, infrastructure, dams, roads, among others, in their profession's field. 

They manage natural resources, with strength in urban systems and transportation, water resources, and management; they recognize the dignity of the individual and prioritize sustainable progress for the welfare of society, making decisions with ethical, environmental, economic, safety, and functionality criteria. 

The graduate of the Civil Engineering program can develop their professional activity by starting their own business or joining organizations and companies in various sectors related to infrastructure, construction, water resources, energy, mining, transportation, urban planning, and the environment. They can be part of organizations linked to research and technological development, education, and development policies, in both the public and private sectors. 

They can work in managerial, scientific, technical, and administrative areas, leading processes and being part of interdisciplinary teams related to the design and execution of works, consulting and advisory, business management and direction, project development and management, research and technological development, and environmental management.
